How to uninstall Spotless

From inside Spotless

Open Spotless and go to Settings › Uninstall Spotless…, or choose Uninstall Spotless… from the menu bar item.

If the optional Apple Intelligence profile is installed, Spotless first asks you to remove it in System Settings, because a profile can only be removed by you.

Spotless then lists every item it will move to the Trash and quits. Nothing is deleted until you empty the Trash.

By hand

1. If you created the Apple Intelligence profile, remove it first (see Permissions › Removing the profile).

2. Quit Spotless: click its menu bar item and choose Quit Spotless.

3. Drag Spotless from your Applications folder to the Trash.

4. In Finder, choose Go › Go to Folder and move these to the Trash if they exist:

• ~/Library/Application Support/dev.reistudio.spotless
• ~/Library/Caches/dev.reistudio.spotless
• ~/Library/Preferences/dev.reistudio.spotless.plist
• ~/Library/Saved Application State/dev.reistudio.spotless.savedState
• ~/Library/Containers/dev.reistudio.spotless.widget
• ~/Library/Group Containers/Q8N24HJVSS.dev.reistudio.spotless
• ~/Downloads/Spotless-Apple-Intelligence.mobileconfig

Files from earlier versions

Versions released before October 2026 used different names. Move these to the Trash too if they exist:

• ~/Library/Application Support/spotless
• ~/Library/Caches/spotless
• ~/Library/Preferences/io.github.spotless.plist
• ~/Library/Saved Application State/io.github.spotless.savedState
• ~/Downloads/spotless-AppleIntelligence.mobileconfig

Your license

The license is stored in your Keychain. Open Keychain Access, search for dev.reistudio.spotless.license (older versions: com.spotless.license) and delete it.

Your license key keeps working. To use it on another Mac, deactivate this one from the link in your license email.

Nothing else to remove

Spotless installs no LaunchDaemons, LaunchAgents, login items or helper tools, so there is nothing else left on your Mac.
